* Market research questionnaire for new newsletter:
"E-mail Marketing and Bulk E-mail News"
*

Thanks for taking the time to respond to this questionnaire! If you have any questions -- or have problems filling out this form -- please contact me.

NOTE: This form has been removed as of 1999.09.27.

Purpose

I'm thinking of launching a newsletter called "E-mail Marketing and Bulk E-Mail News" (EMBEN), described below. But to do it right takes money: This survey is to determine whether the market can support such a newsletter or, if not, how the concept could be adapted to fit the market.

How this questionnaire works

  1. Read the newsletter description below
  2. Answer six questions
  3. Enter additional comments
  4. Hit the "Submit" button to send the whole shebang off to Tom.
The process will probably take you about 10-20 minutes.

If there's sufficient interest, I'll look incorporate your comments and ideas and look further into making this newsletter a reality.

Step 1: Read the newsletter description

ABOUT E-MAIL MARKETING and BULK E-MAIL NEWS

As E-mail becomes universal, marketers are anxious to seize the new opportunities unlocked by this vast medium. At the same time, network administrators and support staffs have to deal with the plethora of problems e-mail's popularity creates. How can marketers grow their audiences more effectively? And how can administrators deal with the demands of e-mail's growth?

Those are the two populations E-mail Marketing and Bulk E-mail News intends to reach. In its pages, techies will learn of the latest developments in filtering, Mail Transfer Agents and message delivery systems; policymakers will learn about issues that affect bulk e-mail, whether by governments or non-governmental organizations; and marketers will learn about ways the path is being forged in this new land, and how to make those roads permanent and profitable.

Step 2: Answer six questions.

  1. The newsletter is planned as a 4,500-word monthly publication (paper and/or e-mail) plus weekly e-mail updates (500 words). How does this sound to you? Too much? Too little? Is there a configuration that suits you better?

  2. Categories of articles that have been proposed include: marketing how-tos; technical how-tos; political maneuverings around bulk e-mail; product category overviews; interviews with people who either manage the load or make bulk e-mail pay; a "Face Off" debate forum for representatives of opposing views. Which (if any) are interesting to you? Could you suggest other topic areas?

  3. I think the primary audiences are (1) ISP and corporate network managers, and (2) Marketers who want to take advantage of bulk e-mail. Primary revenue sources will be subscriptions (90 percent) and advertising (10 percent). There may eventually also be a conference component. Do my assumptions sound right to you? Could you suggest other markets that might be interested in this (or similar) information?

  4. Is this information you'd pay for? If so, how much per month?

  5. Please describe your company and position in it (for example: CTO of a 100,000-subscriber ISP; Marketing Associate of multinational entertainment corporation; etc.)

  6. May we contact you further? If so, please include information for your preferred contact method.

Step 3: Have anything else to say? Put it here.

Step 4: Hit the Submit button, and you're done!
